Recently, someone asked about my nickname, Heemes. After I responded to my friend, I thought "This would be a good blog piece.". So here it is.
Heemes is a nickname I carry with me from college seminary. A friend named Greg Gaul and I were talking and it seemed that everyone else in our circle had nicknames that were pretty neat (I've forgotten most of the others' nicknames, unfortunately). Greg suggested Heemes for me. When I asked him what it meant and how he came up with it, he said simply "It just sounds right for you."
A few years ago, Greg was murdered by a client.
Since then, I have chosen to honor his memory by using this nickname online whenever the Spirit moves me.

It means something special to me to know you better.
I am sorry about your friend. The reason why I asked what “heemes” mean is is because it sounds like my name backwards, semeeh (samme). : )
